The science behind sound healing primarily involves the concept of resonance, where sound waves interact with our body's cells, potentially leading to healing and rejuvenation. It is based on the idea that all matter vibrates at specific frequencies, and that sound can impact substances.  Sound healing is believed to be able to create frequencies that can resonate with the body's energy centers, known as chakras.  Sound waves can encourage the brain to produce certain brain waves, which can help with relaxation, focus, and meditation.  When the brain is relaxed, it stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps the body's organs and tissues to heal.  

Is sound healing safe?

Sound healing is generally considered safe for most individuals.  However, it's always advisable to consult with a healthcare professional if you have a pre-existing medical condition. Sound healing may not be recommended for those with certain health conditions such as epilepsy, specific heart conditions (including pacemakers), and for certain times during pregnancy.  But overall, sound healing can be a soothing and beneficial practice when approached mindfully.
